Work: A New Beginning

I’m ok with my new job so far since I don’t have much rocket science stuff to do yet, but I guess I will be busier soon since the task that I’m currently doing needs to be completed end of this month. The only thing which I need to complain about is the CRT monitor that I’m currently using. I can’t believe this thing still exists nowadays, it should be sent to either a museum or a recycle centre to disassemble the parts and use them for something else. I’ve requested a laptop and it seems like taking them forever to get me one. Think I’ll need to file a complaint if I still can’t get it after next week.

Colleagues are friendly but past experiences tell me that I’ll need more time to get closer with them. I was so quiet last time too but I think I’ll show my true color after a few months later. And it was really a coincidence that one of the guys who joined on the same day as me happens to be a friend of a friend of mine. IT world is small and interrelated, should keep a good impression everywhere.

Facility wise, my previous company is better but this is expected so no complains :)

Traffic is not as bad as I thought. It takes me around15-20 minutes in the morning and 35 minutes after work. And luckily the office is not located at those crowded areas or I will have problem looking for parking.

Anyway, this is only the first month; I’ll elaborate more after I get exposed to more stuff later

Bangkok - Wat Arun & Grand Pallace

The situation in Bangkok now, with 20+ deaths and a few hundred injured cases, it will be very interesting if I’m visiting the place now instead of last month.

This is Wat Arun

And I love it so much because it reminds me of the cut-throat VIP boat fare that I paid to get there.

Luckily the Grand Palace wasn’t that disappointing after that

Quack Quack

I was at home and my mum bought me this for dinner. Tada~

Yup, duck from Yeong Wai! And I said it’s for me because I ate 80% of the whole duck while my parents just took a few bites here and there. Poor duck, but it was tasty… kakaka…

Life is like a box of chocolate

I received something wonderful some time ago

It was so nicely wrapped and it was so painful to undo the wrapping

At last, I can’t stand the temptation of it staring at me for so long.

Awwww… thanks dear :D

Bangkok - The Food

I just came back from Bangkok! Yes although it was said that the street will be filled with red shirt people spilling blood everywhere, I chose to visit the place because it’s free! Yes it’s free, thanks to Irene impressive performance in her work which left the company no choice but to reward her with this 3 days 2 nights trip to the land of red shirt people with blood haha. But the truth is, I didn’t really get to bump into any red shirt people at all while I was there, so I guess the news is a little exaggerated.

The free trip includes a stay at Sofitel, one of the exclusive hotels in the middle of the city and I’m glad that it’s located near the BTS line:

We spent most of our time shopping and hunting for food like

Tom Yam Noodle:

Mango salad:

Glass noodle:

Sticky rice:

Mango sticky rice:

Tom Yam Gung:

Pineapple Fried Rice:

And although those food made my stomach uneasy, I still like them very much :D

Bye Buck

This is my last week at Singapore, 3 more days to go before I can board the bus and go back to KL for good! Well it’s not like I hate it here but I feel a lot more comfortable working at KL with the familiar surrounding and people around. Well this sense of belonging will be gone anyway after 23rd of March which is my last day in the company

--/--

Ok the above was written when I was at Singapore but I didn’t post it up (which I have forgotten why) until now. Anyway it’s already 24th of March today, which means that I’ve already left the company. I was both relieved but cheerless in the same time while sorting out what’s mine and what’s not at my cubicle yesterday. It was a hard heavy feeling leaving a team of people whom I’ve spent most of my waking hours with and who I’ve gone through so much together. The old Chinese saying: “there is no feast that last forever” is true and I should accept that fact and move on. Hopefully I wouldn’t be too occupied with my new job and still be able to catch up with them later.

Thanks a lot to the .NET team for the lunch at Paddington and also my own team for the dinner at Chilies. Although the movie that I bought u guys wasn’t that good but hey, it’s the thought that counts right? And also thanks a lot for the little souvenir that you guys gave me (which I’ll upload the photo here later) because that’s really meaningful. The IT field is small and who knows, our path might re-connect again in the future. Alright till then, bye bye colleagues and hello friends :D

Singapore Again

Beep, blogging in Singapore now. Yes I've returned here again to settle some stuff and also to do some knowledge transfer. The reason for the knowledge transfer is because I've decided, and already took action to resign from my current workplace. Well this is not surprising to me as I did see this coming some time ago.

Switching from one place to another isn’t something easy because I need to move out from my current comfort zone and expose myself to the risk of joining a new place which I'm not familiar with. Well there are always pros and cons in every work place and generally in every decision made so whatever the outcome is, I'll take it as an experience.

Things which are harder to let go are friends and connections which I've made here and also the great things which I had and have been doing with them. But as I said, there are always gives and takes and I'll try to maintain the connection and continue to make new ones

CNY Postmortem

Emm, hi! It has been almost half a month since I last updated and without further chanting on why and what I was busying with, think I just forget those and have a fresh start since it’s a brand new year of the tiger now! Roarrr…

I went back to hometown on the early morning of Chinese New Year and I meant really very early in the morning which was 4am. I was thinking that I could avoid the heavily congested PLUS highway at that hour but I was so wrong because it was still congested! Anyway I was going home for Chinese New Year and I was sleepy at that moment so I just drove and drove and finally I reached home around 7:30am and throw myself on my bed after that.

Anyway I'm back to KL now and wondering what I had done in my 1 week long holiday at home. I spent a great deal of my time playing Torchlight (a game) which I copied from my bro and yes I know this is not CNY related but it’s really a good game and it resembles Diablo a lot. I'd spent most of the nights hanging out and gambling with friends and just like last year, we got a hotel room to maximize our drinking and gambling potential.

I visited relatives on the first few days of CNY and everyone was telling me how tall I had become and yes, I got that every year! If I grow an inch each time people tells me that I got taller, I think I can make friends with Yao Ming. But I do understand that people say that out of courtesy and I should be happy about it

I was also thinking of watching some Chinese movies for CNY but couldn’t get ticket even I was trying to buy a few days in advance. Ipoh is just too crowded during CNY.

My last 2 days were spent at home surfing and reading to cool things down a little before coming back to KL and now here I am again sitting in my room waiting for Irene to come back later in the evening and see how different she has become from one week ago.

Back from Singapore

Hello world,

I'm back from Singapore! Yes, after 1 week of working twice as hard and feeling twice as awful as my time in KL. The only thing which made me feel better was my stay in the hotel where I can throw everything everywhere and they’ll be put right back to where they belong after the room service. Oh yah the breakfast buffet was nice too although they basically serve the same variety of food every morning but at least my stomach was filled before I got slaughtered in the office.

I didn’t do much this time, just visited the new mall which is located right in front of the hotel. Oh yah I also managed to meet Irene’s sisters for dinner too, and I didn’t meet LZ this time because she’s too busy enjoying her sweet moments with her newly found boy friend. Anyway, I might need to go there again in 2 weeks time . It’s all depends on how smooth things will run in these 2 weeks here. Wish me luck

Oh yah I also like the bed lamp which allowed me to read every night before I sleep. I think I wanna install one of those on my bed next time. Ciao~

Singapore

I'm leaving tomorrow morning but I have not even started packing .

Ok maybe I'll pack before I sleep later because I don't really have much to bring, just some clothes and a little bit of this and that :p

This is not a vacation but a business trip. I don't wish for fun, I just wish that I'll survive without heavy casualties 

Lizards!

Was driving that day on Sprint highway to work and saw this:

And just in case if you are wondering, yes it’s a lizard! Staring at me from another side of my car window. And it will certainly lose grip and fly out on the middle of the highway if I accelerated a little bit more. But I didn’t, I gave it a ride instead :D

Fireworks @ Mont Kiara

Beep! It has been a week since my last post on resolution and experience taught me that it’s not appropriate to leave my blog unattended more than a week cause it’ll make me procrastinate even further later.

And since only 10 days has passed after the glorious new year celebration, it’s still not too late to share this video of fireworks which I caught at Mont Kiara on the night of new year eve. Enjoy ;)
